This interactive workshop will explore the growth of English as an international language, and particularly its growth as a Lingua Franca. Delegates will consider the implications of this for the international business community in terms of how to communicate successfully in multilingual contexts.
The event is aimed at any business person who regularly communicates with colleagues and clients who speak a mother tongue which is not English.
Delegates will gain an insight into the research into ELF and develop tools to better navigate multilingual settings. They will gain a greater appreciation of the strategies non-native speakers of English use when communicating in English with each other, which will help them to adapt to such contexts.
